Dr. Pervez Tahir

Dr. Pervez Tahir is currently a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics in Islamabad. Dr Pervez Tahir has been the Chairman of the Bank of Punjab, Chief Economist of the Planning Commission, and Managing Director of the National Energy Conservation Centre. He was Mahbub ul Haq Chair at GCU, Lahore, and Professor of Economics at FCC University in 2007-09. From 2003 to 2006, Dr Tahir served on the Statistical Advisory Panel of UNDP’s global Human Development Report. A columnist for the Express Tribune, he has authored and edited three books, the latest just brought out by Palgrave Macmillan of London and New York. His publications have appeared in numerous journals at home and abroad. He is widely traveled and is a well-known speaker at the international and national conference circuits and media.

Dr. Pervez Tahir holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge and Master’s from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1990, he held the Joan Robinson Memorial Lectureship at Cambridge.
