2nd National Workshop on Community Savings and Alternative Micro Credit for the Poorest:
RSPN along with the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) organised the 2nd National Workshop on Community Savings and Alternative Micro Credit for the Poorest on the 28th of September 2010 in Islamabad. The workshop highlighted various models of both community savings and alternative micro credit, currently being implemented by organised communities in the country. Presenters included community representatives from Chitral, Gilgit, Shikarpur whilst organisations such as PMN and ShoreBank International also presented. The Chief Guest of the workshop was Mr. Sakib Sherani, Principal Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.
Participants of the workshop included individuals from the Government, Microfinance Institutions, Banks, NGOs, the Rural Support Programmes (RSPs) and from organised rural communities from across the country. It is hoped that the innovative and successful models presented in the workshop, will be further replicated in and around Pakistan.
