USAID's Pakistan Children’s Television (PCTV)


The Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW) and Sesame Street Workshop – USA have been awarded a project titled “Pakistan Children Television (PCTV)” for a period of four years by USAID. PCTV develops basic literacy and numeracy skills with entertaining and culturally inclusive TV, radio, and website programmes. The programmes young children and their caregivers, and are offered in Urdu and four regional languages. RSPN, along with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information, PTV, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and Anjum Asim Shahid Rahman Chartered Accountants (AASR), is a partner to Rafi Peer in this project

RSPN is coordinating the RSPs and supporting the provincial managers of PCTV/RPTW in organizing the Outreach Activities by mobilizing communities and children in advance.

RSPN’s key responsibilities are:

  • Providing input in establishing district selection criteria, and identification of specific localities in collaboration with RPTW Provincial Coordinators and Provincial Education Departments
  • Coordinating all outreach activities throughout Pakistan in consultation with RPTW
  • Providing access to communities and target group children to Live Puppet Performance and Mobile TV Show teams in districts selected for these interventions
  • Introducing District Ambassadors to communities to support them in carrying out their displays for small gatherings of children
