Rural Support Programmes (RSPs) Response to 2022 Heavy Rains and Floods Affected Areas of Pakistan

Rural Support Program Network (RSPN) in consortium with Action Against Hunger (ACF)and People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI)has designed the integrated health and WASH COVID-19 response project funded by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO-HIP), to support the Government of Sindh to meet the challenges of the disease and flatten the curve.
The project, “Support Government of Sindh to prepare for and respond to COVID-19 Pandemic” is designed for 143 union councils of four districts of Sindh- Larkana, Shikarpur, Thatta, and Tando Allah Yar. An estimated 125,628 organised households will benefit from the proposed interventions which will be behaviour change i.e. messages disseminated on preventive and mitigation measures against COVID-19, including an emphasis on hand-washing and social distancing and other interventions
Overall Objective: The principal objective of this action is to support the Government of Sindh in preparing for and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in target districts of Sindh, Pakistan
Result 1: Primary and secondary healthcare facilities are supported to improve Infection Prevention and Control and ensure the continuity of health and nutrition service.
Result 2: Communities are provided with life-saving information and able to access handwashing stations at Health facilities and communities for prevention from COVID-19
The project is supporting through the provision of PPEs for healthcare staff at Secondary healthcare levels; increased access of most vulnerable and suspected individuals to COVID-19 testing through the mobile testing facility in collaboration with District Health Offices; Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and awareness-raising among communities about hygiene promotion, reliable information for reducing fear and misinformation and improving handwashing social norms, and COVID-19 prevention; and increased access to hand hygiene through WASH facilities in health facilities, schools, markets, and public spaces.
