The News Reports: TRDP distributes 99,204 ration bags to 16,534 families

As many as 99,204 packets of food items were distributed among 16,534 poor families by Thardeep Rural Development Program (TRDP) in various districts, including Dadu, Jamshoro, UmerKot and Tharparker due to vulnerability of the poor during the lockdown.

While talking to media persons, CEO TRDP Dr Allah Nawaz Samoo said the TRDP conducted a rapid survey in 100 union councils of Dadu, Jamshoro, Tharparkar and Umerkot districts during March 2020. He said the purpose of assessment was to find out the effects of lockdown on rural economy. He said the TRDP had made a plan to reach 700,000 households of 228 union councils, including 184,160 households from 2,829 rural settlements of 96 rural UCs of Dadu and Jamshoro district. The CEO said TRDP designed a mechanism to support communities and start economic activities with three major inputs, provide income generation grant of Rs20,000 to each family to start small grocery shops in their respective villages. He said the data of poor households was available with TRDP and was collected through poverty score card two years ago.
