World struggles to cope with the global pandemic (COVID-19) and the challenges

As the world struggles to cope with the global pandemic (COVID-19) and the challenges brought by it, work patterns have undergone tremendous changes. Under the European Union in Pakistan-funded Programme for Improved Nutrition in Sindh, the District Nutrition Coordinator, PPHI at Matiari, Mr. Zakir Hussain Samo, along with his team is effectively utilizing the tool of social media to stay in touch with the field staff and guide them about precautionary measures regarding the COVID-19 situation. The Importance of social distancing, wearing masks & gloves and frequent use of hand sanitizer were emphasized to all the nutrition assistants and other field staff. Even in these trying times, persistent efforts are being made to ensure the timely provision of nutrition services to Severely Acute Malnourished Children (SAM). It must be remembered that the prevalence of underweight children under 5 years is one of the highest in District Matiari and this necessitates sustained efforts regardless of manmade and natural challenges. Desperate times may call for desperate measures, but even then, the show must go on.
